Feature update: Downloading and printing plays and formations
Published: August 19, 2025
Ever wanted to get your playbook out of the internet and onto paper? Well now you can.
I have just added a few ways to download Plays & Formations as a PDF so you can share or print however you prefer:
- On an individual Formation (just printing one Formation)
- On an individual Play (just printing one Play with coaching notes)
- On a Play Group (e.g. all plays in a "Smash" group)
- Plays & Formations in an install
Let's take a look at them...
Individual Formation
To download an individual formation, first make sure you’re viewing the formation that you want to print.
Once you’re viewing the formation, tap the button with the three dots in the top right corner to open the dropdown menu.

From here you can share digitally or print it out and share wherever you need it.

Individual Play
This works pretty much like printing a formation, except this time you print the play and the coaching notes on one page.
Head to the play you would like to print and again open the dropdown menu by clicking the three dots button in the top right.

Tap “Download PDF” to download a one-page PDF of the play including coaching notes. The page will look a little something like this.

Group of Plays
If you have a group of plays, you can download all of the plays within that group as a single PDF.
Head to the group you’d like to print, and then tap the button with the three dots in the top right corner to open the dropdown menu.

Tap “Download PDF” to download a PDF with up to 6 plays per page in a 2-by-3 layout. If you have more than 6 plays in the group, it will automatically create more than one page. The end result will look a little something like this.

Install
Installs allow you to have a collection of plays and formations. Unlike Groups, these are not mutually exclusive so you can have the same play or formation in multiple installs.
Head to the install you’d like to print, and then tap the button with the three dots in the top right corner to open the dropdown menu.

Tap “Download PDF” to download a PDF of the install. The file includes a cover page (including the name of the install), 2-by-3 pages to show any formations in the install and then 2-by-3 pages to show any plays in the install.
If you don’t have any formations or any plays, then it will skip that section. The end result will look a little something like this.

That’s it for now. I will be adding a way to download a PDF of the whole playbook at some point, as well as printouts for play calling and wristcoaches, so watch this space.
Head into your team to try out these changes.
